President's Message

August 2022

It's that time of year again where the children are heading back to school and vacations are ending. I know business over the past few years has been different for many of us. Some of us have had an abundance of business while others have had to struggle just to keep their business going. I truly believe there is a plan for everything.

Our Womens Information Network of Simi Valley holds us all together as one. We are here to help each other with not only referrals, but support each other in business , professional development and most of all friendships.

If you are in need of assistance on how to increase your business please reach out to myself, the WINS Board or one of the members. We are here to support you.

Lastly, we do need to have all final RSVPs in no later than the Monday before our monthly meeting. We want to be sure that Wood Ranch Country Club will have the correct count of entree's for us.I really appreciate your cooperation and understanding inregard to this matter.

Also, remember that each time you bring a guest to a meeting you will receive a puzzle piece. The member that collects the most pieces this year will be awarded a free membership for 2023! Inviting guests is the best way to share all of the wonderful benefits of becoming an active member of WINS.

A strong woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink.

July 2022

I sure hope you are enjoying the Summer. I have missed you all as I was gone for three weeks in Montana visiting my daughter who was expecting her first baby. I was so blessed to be able to be there for the delivery of my new grandson, Clay Johnathan Norton. Isn't he just precious.

Spending the time with my daughter and my new grandson was such a gift. It really made me reflect on how precious life is. Being away from work and home actually gave me time to relax a bit, read a book, focus on something else besides my normal daily routine and recharge my body and mind. I am not a big reader unless it's a book on business but you have to read "Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens. There is actually a movie coming our soon based on this novel. Maybe we will set up a WINS movie night and see the movie together.

Being seven months into the year already, we have had some of the best meeting ever. You will love the meetings we have planned for the remainder of the year, including our annual Birthday Bash in October and our Installation Luncheon in November.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our meeting July 27th and Wine Down Wednesday on July 13th.

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

June 2022

I was so excited to hear about how fun our May Networking meeting went. I have heard so much wonderful feedback from the board and many of you! I am so sorry that I missed it as I was on a long over due vacation with my husband.

As many of you know my daughter is having her first baby anytime now-sooner would be better. I had to leave on a rush flight last Wednesday as she started showing signs of labor. Well as I am sitting here typing this letter no baby as of yet, but I am having such wonderful quality time with my daughter and helping her prepare for her new little one. Unfortunately I will be missing our June meeting as well since I will be in Montana until the 24th. We have a great speaker, Allan Mann with the Planning Commission that will let us know what is currently happening in Simi Valley.

Speaking of quality time, I have come to notice that as women we rarely take time for ourselves or give that one on one time with our loved ones. Life seems to just get busy as we put more on our plate. If you are like me you have a tendency to say YES to just about everything. We always thinks that we can fit just one more item on our plate.

Lesson being learned is that by passing up or saying that you can not take on another obligation at this time is all right. I am looking forward to seeing all your beautiful faces at our July meeting.

Ladies remember to bring a door prize with your business card on it to give away at our April meeting to promote your business.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, that this year, I would like our WINS group to focus on networking, more referrals to each other's businesses and to grow in our personal journey and health as women.

A reminder to everyone, we have so many talented and brilliant members here that I personally have given referrals to and have received referrals from. Maybe you are thinking to yourself that you may not need a service that one of our members provides? Well, you may not at this time, but I bet that someone you know is looking for a service and can benefit from one of our member's businesses.

Women's Information Network has been a local organization for over 40 years and there are not many networking groups that can say this.

Not able to attend the meeting in person? You can now Zoom into our meeting. Yes, that's right. You can join us and participate. Look for the link in the Newsletter to RSVP. Be sure to send me your 30 -second commercial so I can read it at the meeting.

Lastly, as I mentioned last month, we do need to have all final RSVPs in no later than the Monday before our monthly meeting. We want to be sure that Wood Ranch Country Club will have the correct count of entree's for us.I really appreciate your cooperation and understanding inregard to this matter.

May 2022

My Friends,

Hope you all had a great Cindo de Mayo and enjoyed plenty of margaritas or avacados. We are working our way into summer and we know this is the time for many of us to take vacations with our families or in my case waiting for my new grandson to be born. He is due June 22nd but my daughter gets her cerclage out the end of May so I have a strong feeling that he may be here sooner than later. I sure hope I can lead our fabulous networking meeting this month if I am in town. If not you will have the fabulous board leading it.

What a wonderful meeting we had in April. Evelyn Garfield, owner of the Junkyard Resturant and Birdie Bar was absolutly wonderful to hear. Her life has been filled with some major tragedies, but Evelyn was able to overcome them and to continue on and build her business like no other. Evelyn shared with us some great advice and words to live by.

I am thrilled with all the new members that have joined us, welcome to you all! It's wonderful to see so many faces again coming back to our meetings. We have some wonderful speakers planned over the next few months.

April 2022

My Friends,

Can you believe that Spring is here? The trees are sprouting their leaves, our hills are green and the flowers are blooming. It is truly one of the most beautiful times of the year. I hope that you all take a moment and look around at the beauty around you. Of course I do believe it's time for some spring cleaning but I think we all did enough of this during Covid. Our homes should be pretty much cleaned out by now.

What a wonderful meeting we had in March. Leah from Forever Found was wonderful and I feel that she really enlightened us with all the aspects of human trafficking. We can do our part either by donating or if you have household items or clothing that you are going to give away please think about their store Second Story to donate those items too. It helps to raise funds for these individuals that have been trafficked and raise money for the awareness.

I am thrilled with all the new members that have joined us, welcome to you all! It's wonderful to see so many faces again coming back to our meetings. We have some wonderful speakers planned over the next few months.

March 2022

My Friends,

Thank you all that attended our last WINS meeting in February. What a fantastic meeting it was with so

many of our members attending and our fabulous speaker Pat Havens. After living in Simi Valley for over 53 years I had no idea of our beautiful city’s history.

Now as we step into March, the month of luck with St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, we will be surrounded with four leaf clovers, green beer, Leprechauns, and rainbows with pots of gold. Story has

it if you catch a Leprechaun, he will have to give you his pot of gold found at the end of a rainbow.

Not sure how we are going to catch a Leprechaun, but I do know that we all have a pot of gold. Gold meaning wealth and richness. If we look at our lives, our jobs, our families, friends, and our faith this is

worth much more than a pot of gold. It's all about how we see what we truly have, not material items but in our hearts and our surroundings.

Embracing what we have in life will make you a happier and healthier woman. By doing this your business will blossom and your relationships with others will be plentiful.

I hope this month brings you that pot of gold. Looking forward to seeing you at our Wine Down Wednesday and our monthly March meeting.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, that this year, I would like our WINS group to focus on networking, more referrals to each other's businesses and to grow in our personal journey and health as women.

As women, we have to wear many hats, and at times it can be exhausting. We need to make sure we take care of ourselves so that we can serve our families, friends and clients better. We have so many wonderful speakers on the calendar for this year already and I can't wait for you to hear their words of wisdom.

A reminder to everyone, we have so many talented and brilliant members here that I personally have given referrals to and have received referrals from. February 2022

My Friends,

February is one of my favorite months. Not only is it my birthday month but it's also my daughter's birthday and of course Valentine's Day. A lot of us consider this to be the month of love. We tell those around us how much we love them, send them Valentine's Day cards, gifts, and more. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone treated each month like February? I truly believe that we are here to spread love to all, to do, and to help those around us. This includes how we treat others in our businesses. We all have amazing clients and friends that refer business to us and it is our privilege to give the best service that we can to those we serve.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, that this year, I would like our WINS group to focus on networking, more referrals to each other's businesses and to grow in our personal journey and health as women.

December 2021

My Dear Friends,

I have been honored to be your 2021 President this last year and appreciate all your kind words and your faith in me as your President. I am truly looking forward to our 2022 year with lots of exciting speakers and some new networking opportunitities ahead of us.

This year has gone by so quickly that it really makes me think of what I have missed. I just came back from driving to Montana for Thanksgiving to see my daughter who is 11 weeks pregnant, and yes I am so very excited to be a grandma again! On this drive it really made me think of all the beauty around us. It truly was the most peaceful feeling ever, and a landscape I will never forget.

This Christmas I hope you are able to take in all the beauty around you, enjoy the people in your life and just cherish every single moment.

May your Christmas be filled with joy and love. Wishing you a very Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in January.

November 2021

My Dear Friends,

I am beyond amazed at how quickly this year has flown by. We are already at our last meeting of the year which is our Installation Luncheon. We are honored to have Moorpark Major Janice Parvin officiate our 2021 WINS Board members and welcome our 2022 WINS Board. We are dark in December and will resume back together January 26th, 2022.

I wanted to wish you all a very special Thanksgiving and a prayer for you all.

God, thank you for bringing our friends and family together this Thanksgiving. While it's sometimes hard to make time to be together, we pray you will help us to enjoy this time together. We are reminded that Thanksgiving is about relationships, not just a meal, but the people you have brought together. Help us to enjoy the laughter, conversations, and the memories we make on this day.

For the loved ones that can not be with us we lift them up to you. Thank you also for the hands that have prepared the meal, and we pray the energy we receive from it will empower us to do what is pleasing to you and speak your love, grace, and mercy to others. Amen.

October 2021

My Dear Friends,

What an exciting month we have in October. This month is our Birthday Bash! I can not believe how quickly this year has flown by.

Please see the newsletter with all the details, you definitely won't want to miss this event. If you were unable to attend our last months meeting we were honored to have Dee Dee Cavanaugh Major Pro Tem of Simi Valley. Dee Dee gave us so much insightful information about what is happening in our great city.

Next month is our November Installation. Speaking of our Installation, do you have a desire to join our WINS Board? We have a few open positions on the Board and we would love to have you join us to make 2022 an incredible year. If you are interested please reach out to myself or Jan Sandstrom.

As women we are always striving to do better and accomplish more. I thought I would share this beautiful story with you.

In this story, God is creating the Universe. And on the sixth day, God decides to work extra late in order to create the first woman.

What happens next is not only extremely touching, but it reminds us just how important it is to love and appreciate each and every woman in our lives including ourselves!!

The story goes:

“When God created Woman, he was working late on the sixth day.

An Angel came by and asked, ‘Why spend so much time on her?’

The Lord answered, ‘Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?'”

“‘She must function on all kinds of situations.

She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time, have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart.

She must do all this with only two hands.

She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day.'”

“The Angel was impressed. ‘Just two hands? Impossible! And this is the standard model?’

The Angel came closer and touched the woman. ‘But you have made her so soft, Lord.’

‘She is soft,’ said the Lord, ‘but I have made her strong. You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome.'”

“‘Can she think?’ the Angel asked.

The Lord answered, ‘Not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate.’

The Angel touched her cheeks. ‘Lord, it seems this creation is leaking! You have put too many burdens on her.’

‘She is not leaking. It is a tear,’ the Lord corrected the Angel.

‘What’s it for?’ asked the Angel.

The Lord said, ‘Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.'”

“This made a big impression on the Angel. ‘Lord, you are a genius. You thought of everything. A woman is indeed marvelous.’

The Lord said, ‘Indeed she is. She has strength that amazes a man. She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens. She holds happiness, love and opinions.

‘She smiles when she feels like screaming. She sings when she feels like crying, cries when happy and laughs when afraid. She fights for what she believes in.

‘Her love is unconditional. Her heart is broken when a next-of-kin or a friend dies but she finds strength to get on with life.'”

“The Angel asked, ‘So she is a perfect being?’

The Lord replied, ‘No. She has just one drawback.’

‘She often forgets what she is worth.'”—Author unknown

August 2021

Hello beautiful ladies,

I can not believe how quickly time has flown by since our last newsletter. As most of you who attended our last meeting in July know, my beautiful daughter, Kyndal, was recently married on August 6th. My family is now blessed with a new son, Adam, whom we adore. After almost a year of planning the wedding, our special day arrived. I want to thank everyone for all of the advice to just step back and look around that day and take everything in. I did just that, and it completely filled my heart. I could not have asked for a better, more gorgeous day. With all of this being said, thank you for your patience this past month while I was finalizing the wedding plans. It sure did take on a life of it’s own.

Speaking of stepping back and taking a look around, have any of us really done this with our own lives? We are so busy working, planning and caring for others that I have come to realize how important it is to just step back and appreciate where we are and exactly what life offers us all. Time really moves quickly so let's all make our best effort to value every minute of it.

Lastly, as I mentioned last month, we do need to have all final RSVP’s in no later than the Monday before our monthly meeting so that Wood Ranch Country Club can have the correct count of food for us. Unfortunately, we are unable to take any RSVP’s later than Monday August 23rd. I really appreciate your cooperation and understanding with regards to this matter. July 2021

Can you believe that we are already halfway through the year? Crazy isn’t it? I am not sure where the time has gone, as it almost seems like a blur. This last year and a half have had so many changes and as we are finally opening our counties, going out again, gathering with friends and yes, of course, working at full speed.

I know we all get so busy in our lives with work, family and events that we are running or assisting in we sometimes forget about ourselves. As for myself, this is something that I really need to work on. If we do not take care of our own needs, then how can we take care of others that depend on us. I would love for us to share advice with other members at our next meeting on July 28th. When you do your 30 second commercial, I'd like for you to share something that you do to take time out for yourself. We can all learn from each other and are here to not only share our businesses with each other but to support each other. So, if you are comfortable sharing, please use your 30 second commercial to let other ladies know what you do to take time for yourself.

For those of you that missed our last meeting, it was fantastic. We really got to know quite a bit about our members and their businesses. It is so exciting to see so many of you back at our in-person meetings. At our next meeting we will be handing out puzzle pieces to those that have invited a guest this year so far. Each time you invite a guest you will receive a puzzle piece, since this is the theme this year. The member that receives the most puzzle pieces at the end of the year will receive a paid WINS membership for 2022!

I am looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting and get ready to learn how to organize your life!

June 2021

I sure hope you all have had an amazing weekend. Can you believe Summer is already upon us? I'm not sure where the time has gone.

What a fantastic meeting we had last month. It has been so long since we have been able to see each other in person. We had many laughs. For those of you that could not attend, we sure hope to see you at our next meeting on Wednesday, June 23rd at 11:30. We are back in person at the beautiful Wood Ranch Country Club.

You will not want to miss this month’s networking meeting as you will be able to promote your business and not with just a thirty second commercial. We are having a Networking event where each member will be able to share information on their respective business, hand out business cards, promotional items, catalogs and whatever you have that you would like to give to others. Each member will get 3 minutes to share anything and everything about themselves and their business. More details to follow soon.

RSVP to attend the networking meeting on June 23rd by CLICKING HERE. We can't wait to hear what you've got to say!

I am so thankful for each and every one of you, as many of our members have endured so much this last year. We are here to build each other up and form lasting relationships with one another. I have been blessed with referrals from many of you and have given many referrals out too. As women we have that special touch with clients, and you can count on our wonderful members to help your friends, family, and clients when you refer them to our members.

I am still looking for many of you to send me your photo and a short description on your business for the new directory I am making for us. If you could please get that to me as soon as you can, that would be greatly appreciated.

One last note, please RSVP for the June meeting by June 18th as we need to give a lunch count to the Country Club on that date. We will also be having the business card drawing where you can bring a door prize to give away to promote your business even more. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 23rd .

May 2021

Great News! We are meeting in person for our May 26th WINS Meeting at 11:30AM to 1PM at Wood Ranch Country Club. It will be truly wonderful to see all your beautiful faces in person. Please note we will have Zoom available for those that are not comfortable joining us in person.

We will need you to RSVP and pay for your lunch which is $25.00 per person to our web site, just click on the link below. Once at our web site you will choose the meeting tab at the top of the web page and then click on the RSVP and complete that form to register and choose your lunch option. You will be able to pay via Pay Pal or pay by check or cash at the door. Please note that once you have RSVP'd for the luncheon you will be charged the luncheon fee as we need to give a total number of guests to Wood Ranch Country Club.

Along with this, if all current paid members could please send me a photo of yourself and a bio about your business that would be wonderful so I can put it in the online business directory that I am making for us.

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon!

April 2021

I sure hope you all have had a wonderful week. We missed those of you who could not make it to our Wine Down Wednesday that we had this week. It was a great time for us to just sit and chat. We will be moving our Wine Down Wednesday to the third Wednesday of the month. We will send you details of where we will be meeting next month.

We all need business tips to help our businesses grow. Please click HERE to find your monthly tip of 7 Ways to Work Your Network for Leads and Clients. Business Tip

I know I had sent out our WINS membership roster previously but you were not able to open it, my apologies to you. Let's try it again. Please click HERE

You won't want to miss our next meeting Wednesday, April 28th . Our speaker Shawn Nelson is on fire with her business and was able to leave her career as a RN and reached for the stars and got them with how well she has succeeded. Not only will Shawn give us some great advise on growing your own business, but maybe a great make-up tip or two.

See you soon!

March 2021

I am so excited to see so many of you on our monthly Zoom meetings. As you know this year our theme is Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together. So many of us women have crazy schedules with juggling work, home life, children/grand children, charities and so much more. Our meetings are designed to help each and every one of you with all aspects of your life. I sure hope you are enjoying them. Thank you for all of you that responded to my previous email in February when I asked about your thoughts on having meetings in person or continuing to meet via Zoom. Your WINS Board will be discussing this on Monday and we will let you know what is up and coming. If you have not responded to my email regarding this please feel free to send me an email letting me know your feelings on this topic.

A quick reminder that our WINS meetings are only for paid members and invited guest. If you have not renewed your membership please do so. I would hate for any of you to miss out on the amazing speakers and fun get togethers that we are having. You all mean the world to us and we want you to be a part of this wonderful group of women.

February 2021

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you beautiful women. Can you believe we are already in mid-February? Time sure seems to be going by so quickly. I hope you are enjoying the Women of Business Tips that I have been sending out to you. We are so excited to have had so many guests on our last meeting and have many more joining us for our February meeting.

Since February is the month of love and is celebrated with hearts everywhere, what not a better time to have a Dr. Glasser, a well-known female doctor, talk to us about our health and wellbeing. Since our theme for this year at WINS is Putting the Pieces of the Puzzle Together, what a better way to bring in our health as an essential part of our puzzle. Over the past year we have all had so many changes in our lives on how we do business, our social networks have been dramatically limited and learning how to cope with the Covid pandemic it has taken some stress on our bodies and overall wellbeing. It is so important that we keep our bodies and our minds healthy.

**Mark your calendars for Wednesday March 10th at 6PM-6:45PM for Wine Down Wednesday. This is just a time for us to get together via Zoom with your favorite beverage and just chat and laugh together. Hope to see you there.

I am so grateful for all of you and am enjoying every day being your President. Have a blessed day!
